CIMA has once again released its latest pass rates covering the period leading up to the end of March 2018.
Gateway level pass rates continue to be below 50% which probably highlights that Gateway students may be finding it hard to transition into case study preparation. The percentage has improved from 17% to 36%, which may mean that Gateway students are taking heed of the worrying trend and making serious efforts in their preparation.
Operational level went up by a small margin to 51%.
A big jump at the management level from 56% to 74%, which may mean that management level students have finally gotten the hang of case studies or they may have found greater familiarity with the shared service industry, which was the topic of the MCS pre-seen in February 2018.
Strategic level continues on with its average of 60+% from 2017 into 2018.
The OT exam pass rates are calculated on total exams passed over total exams taken for the periods stated below. Highlighted in blue are the subjects/courses that have less than 50% pass rate. P1 continue to be the only deemed “dreaded” subject based on the results.
It is important to note that the Certificate level percentages are based on the new Cert BA 2017 syllabus and all in all, the results at that level are satisfactory.
Don’t be deterred or disheartened by the low pass rates for some of the courses/ subjects/ levels. The good news is that like a good managed project (here’s an E2 reference for you, students!), you will just need to ensure you allocate the costs, time, resources, patience you need to get through the levels effectively.
